Minutes

Sam: Presented himself; background from production of DAISY books, in addition to a more technical background including computer science.

Markus: Markus has contacted Steven Pemberton (xhtml2 WG chair) about the time line for the xhtml2 work. Work is delayed due to dependencies on other standards, notably RDFa. The working group is about to start up again, and Steven is positive about DC joining (probably Markus) the group. Markus will follow up.

Kenny: Gregory Rusmeda is very keen about the work we are doing, and he wants to help us in any way possible, maybe by joining the group. Kenny will set up a concall with Markus, Kenny and Gregory Rusmeda about the possibilities for Gregory to join the group.

Markus: Involvement from Gregory would be a great asset to the group.

Markus: Reminded us about the iteration process, where a very simple Leisure Profile is the goal for the first iteration.

Boris: Status report on the work of the RDF sub group: spent some time reading on the topic, and also had one concall. Noted a disambiguity in the role of the RDF work:

  • Create a mapping of DAISY elements to xhtml for pure XHTML rendering
  • Create a mapping of new vocabularies (eg newsML) to DAISY

Markus: Do we need a full group discussion?

Boris: Would like to do some more reading to find out to make it work with DAISY elements. Want to use some more time to think about the usefulness.

Kenny and Markus presented their thoughts about the use of RDF

Markus: IFLA has offered help on the revision, due to their interest in metadata.

Boris: Plan to present something to the larger group on the concall Monday 20th October

Markus: Per has started to look into the xhtml2 relaxNG schemas, a new driver is created + a pagenum module. Markus will do the same thing with NVDL, as we don't want to lock to a specific schema language.

Markus: Per/Markus created a google code account

Per: Post his leisure document instances to the google repository

Markus: The timing of this concall is not the best for all participants, but we will continue as present for a few more weeks.
