Summary
This is the report from ZedAI WG Iteration 5.
The iteration time span was 2 october 2009 to 23 December 2009. Iteration deliverables were initially defined in the Iteration 4 report.
Deliverables Report
The main deliverable of this iteration was a a third public working draft of the Z39.86 Authoring and Interchange Framework. This has been completed, and is available at http://www.daisy.org/z3986/2010/
The published version of the specification, profiles, features and framework is of an early access nature, and contains several incomplete areas, and several yet unresolved issues. The WG tracks all lower level issues at the GoogleCode issue tracker.
The following items constitute the major artifacts added during this iteration:
- A first draft of the SVG CDR profile
- A refactoring of metadata handling (see specification draft for details)
- A refactoring of lists markup
- Provision of modules for glossaries, indices and bibliographies (these are still early versions)
In addition, the Periodicals profile, which was added in an early version in the previous iteration, has been removed. As additional Profiles can be added later on, the WG wishes to use its resources right now for other matters than finalizing this profile.
Risk analysis
- RDF/a
- The future of RDF/a is currently discussed within the W3C as part of the HTML5 effort. We need to track this development closely to make sure that our use of this technology is aligned with the mainstream. A rechartering of the RDFa WG to produce RDFa 1.1 is currently proposed within the W3C. Risk-level: medium
- Timing vis-a-vis W3C
- The MathML3 specification, on which ZedAI depends, is still not a final REC. While the charter is in alignment with the ZedAI schedule, CR stages are known to sometimes become elongated Risk-level: medium
Resolved Items from Iteration 3 Issue Log
The WG henceforth tracks all issues at the GoogleCode issue tracker.
Deliverables for the next iteration
Iteration 4 time span: December 23, 2009 - February 28, 2010
Main deliverable: a fourth public working draft of the Z39.86 Authoring and Interchange Framework, primarily based on internal reviews of the current drafts. The goal is to at the end of this iteration have profiles that can be exposed to a larger audience for testing.
Overarching
- Complete documentation of modules (including abstract definitions of the module pool in the specification)
- This work has already begun, and is expected to consume the vast majority of the time spent in the coming iteration
- Reduce Issue count
- Reorganization/cleanup of RDF vocabularies
