Issues Update
Action: Issues 193, 194, and 195 are referred to the DTD
team.
The retesting and release of dtbook-2005-3 is to be postponed until resolution
of these additional issues.
Issue 193 involves not handling #IMPLIED attributes with default
values in Section 16.1, which does say "all attributes declared as #FIXED
in the respective DTD are required to be explicitly specified in the document
instance". This appears to be an oversight and needs clarification with
the goal of future proofing the spec. Before recommending any change
in wording or other solution, a full census of attributes with default
values should be done. So far, the list of element attributes
with default values should include: the anchor element external
attribute (default false), the xml:space attribute on code and samp elements,
the page attribute on element pagenum (default normal), and all table
element attributes for th, td, such as colspan (default 1), and rowspan
(default 1), not just for an entire table but for each table cell. The
DTD team needs to consider if this issue resolution is appropriate to a
2005 or future revision.
Issue 194 involves the dtbookblock entity never being used; resolution should
be straightforward.
Issue 195 involves expanding the title element content model beyond PCDATA;
note very different usage from the HTML title element in head.
F2F Meeting Agenda
Action: George to update agenda with required reading list
and list of presentations, such as SMIL development, DAISY OK updated
spec, IDPF status, CEA audio spec, and current book production status.
Action: George to facilitate Skype conferencing sessions
as part of the F2F for those who cannot attend.
Issues discussed for the F2F agenda follow:
- Markus suggested starting a roadmap of how to progress to the next spec
version, what forums should we participate in, etc, the
tech-dev list is not all that is needed, want to but not sure
how to solicit participation from multiple disability
communities. The requirements discussion needs to start
with input regarding end user functionality. This is to be
started at the F2F, goal is to have ready for the Technical
Conference in September.
- James would like reasons listed for going to next spec to justify and
guide work flow.
- The list of required reading to do prior to the FTF
should include Marisa's SMIL document, sent out on 2006 December
20.
- It may be helpful to also review the revised DAISY OK Certification process
which so far has been a very separate discussion from the spec.
- Markus and George agreed that a short presentation is needed
regarding IDPF.
- James will do a presentation on the CEA audio spec.
- A short discussion is also planned on the different approaches
to book production.
- There is an "Analysis" portion on the agenda, but
does need to be structured discussion.
- Markus suggested building a map of the user landscape, including significance
of each target user group.
- George suggested analyzing what the "information getting" holes are
for information gatherers and how DAISY
can help fill these gaps.
- Lloyd expressed interest in being able to Skype into
portions of the F2F conference. George suggested that Skype
participants may need to accept having relatively lower priority
in influencing discussion since they may have missed content derived
from live participation. Lloyd agreed and all thought it is a good
idea to enable remote participation for various sessions
in order to include those who are not able to attend in person.
Along with the call agenda that was undeliverable, George had attached
a rough draft of the F2F agenda which will be updated after this call.
