- Go to John 3:16
- Go to page 397 of the New Testament in the Revised Standard Version of your pew Bible

Just to clarify, does this mean the end user would be able to enter the value of a book, chapter and verse on a standard player and go there instantly?
If so, this would be one of the most valuable features of DAISY from our perspective as it transforms the DAISY Bible from a book to a study tool.

Optimal data structures in the next version of DAISY would hopefully enable navigation such as this to be implemented in a variety of ways. Individual players would certainly have restrictions, such as file sizes. Are there more detailed requirements to be entered relating to this as one of the most widely-spread applications of detailed study and reading requirements? For example, could DAISY support extensive annotations and cross references at the level of word indexing, dictionary and translation lookup, pulled in across volumes/books, etc?
Comment from Greg Kearney
I have considered each verse to be a phase in my productions. We might also consider other scriptures such as the LDS D&D or the Koran which use numbered sections and numbered verses for example D&C (:10 (section 9 verse 10) it would be nice to provide some means of navigation directly to a given verse.
Comment from Marisa DeMeglio
This seems like it is largely a player issue. Maybe the requirement from a standards point of view is that the standard shouldn't break this feature, and maybe even see what it could do to make it better.
I have gotten requests for AMIS about similar things -- going to a section by entering its number, even if it's not numbered. E.g. "Go to 1.2" would go to the 1st section's 2nd subsection. There's no problem with the existing standard but maybe certain types of publications would like to have more control over how a numbered hierarchy would correspond to content.
