Call for participation in online delivery
Dear Members and Friends,
Many organisations throughout the world are now starting to think about the development of online delivery of information, including talking books, and a number of pilots are already underway throughout our community. It is important that we agree on a protocol to support this activity so that inter-operability of reading systems and player solutions, a prized benefit of the way we currently work, can be assured in the future. A working group is being established to develop user requirements and a protocol in this area, distinguishing between what we might be able to collectively agree as an inter-operable standard and what should continue to develop as the specific business rules of each organisation.
Pete Osborne, RNIB, will chair the group, and will support the development of a charter, including objectives, scope and deliverables, and participants will be required to commit time to agreed activities. The aim is to establish a protocol at least in draft format by the end of this year. We would welcome your participation in this group and promise lively discussion and plenty of opportunity to influence the future delivery of accessible information in exchange for your skills and a commitment to find time to fully engage in activity.
If you are not yet a part of the Working Group and would like to join, or if you have any questions, Please use the Contact us Form on the DAISY Web site and specify category Project: DAISY-Online.
