Here are some brief notes from Friday 11 Jan meeting.
For the next little while (Sean expects until Mid February), we are going to have a conference call each week on Fridays.[p> http://www.daisy.org/z3986/requirements/
We'll be concentrating on our recommendations to the Structure Guidelines, concentrating on some recommendations for the consistent use of class attributes in the markup.
These class attributes must be identified and put in place by Feb 15. Sooner if possible.
We are also going to place our structure requests to date on the requirements pages for the DTBook committee. TOC is already up there. We'll be adding items such as:
Submitting an item as a requirement does not guarantee its inclusion in the standard, but they are elements we feel are of use to more than just braille production. Submitting them as requirements will guarantee their consideration.
Are there any others? We need to discuss, we have until the end of March for this requirements gathering activity.
RNIB will be looking at the PEF and what is required to move it to the next step; we'll wait to hear from them on their recommendations (based on Joel's comments about spec writing and public review).
It was agreed that the group would focus on the different sections of the Structure Guidelines. the goal is to identify items that require special identification in braille, but which will also provide benefit regardless of the output medium. Sean will guide the weekly discussion, on the list, and the remaining meetings on Fridays will be used to summarize list responses. Identified items will be submitted via the
ACTION: Jennifer suggested that Sean contact the main Braille in DAISY list to solicit additional input given the working group's shift in focus.
ACTION: In a subsequent off-list email thread, it was brought to our attention that the overview page for the B. in D. project needs to be updated.
