DAISY Consortium, Japanese Society for Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities, and Microsoft Partner on eBook Accessibility
The DAISY Consortium, the Japanese Society for Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities (JSRPD) and Microsoft Co., Ltd. have partnered on ebook accessibility, and started to offer the Japanese language version of a free Microsoft Word add-in that enables the creation of Word documents in DAISY format. The problem in the past was that creating documents in DAISY required specialized knowledge and proprietary editing software. However, DAISY Translator, the free Word add-in, enables the creation of documents in DAISY format. The free add-in is now available in Japanese and can be downloaded from JSRPD’s website at http://www.dinf.ne.jp/doc/daisy/software/. More information is available in the DAISY Consortium press release.
