HOMEOpen Source DAISY Production Tool: Obi 1.1 RC Now Available
Fully accessible free audio recording tool Obi enables a broader audience to produce accessible, navigable DAISY books. In addition, Obi reduces the time required to work with sophisticated production tools and significantly reduces costs that may create barriers for some.
The Obi 1.1 RC release features DAISY 2.02 export as the main enhancement. Users can export their project to DAISY 3 or now DAISY 2.02 DTB that conforms to the DAISY standards, then validate and encode it to MP3. DTB Merger, a new utility that enables users to combine two or more DTBs into a single book, is also distributed with this release.
Obi is released under the LGPL license and is available for download at the Obi development site.
We encourage Obi users to export files to DAISY 2.02 and send our developers bug reports if the exported book will not play in your player or if you have any other concerns. Visit the Obi forum and post your questions and suggestions.
