WORTH Trust is a not-for-profit Trust. It began its operation as a Swedish Red Cross Trust in 1963 to rehabilitate leprosy cured persons in and around Vellore. Today WORTH Trust has six Production Centres, three Technical Training Centres, three Computer Training Centres, a Transitional School for Speech & Hearing Impaired children, a Day Activity Centre for people with intellectual and other disabilities. It also has a Book uploading Centre for digitization of books for Bookshare.org which undertakes DAISY Conversion/DT book production work for other organisations, all spread across Katpadi (Vellore), Pondicherry, Tiruchirapalli and Chennai. The production centres are accredited for ISO 9001:2000 AND TS:16949. The training is entirely free and the Trust meets all its rehabilitation expenses from the surplus generated from Production Centres and almost all the employees are disabled with Orthopaedic, Speech & Hearing, Vision and other Impairement. All trainees are disabled. The Trust produces various Assistive/Learning Devices for Visually Impaired and other Mobility Aids.
