Member Detail: Novosibirsk Special Library for the Blind and Visually Impaired

The Novosibirsk Special Library for the Blind and Visually Impaired (NRSL) is now a recognized leader and coordinator in Siberia, Russia, in the sphere of accessible services for the blind and low-vision segment of the population. Today NSLB is a technological, rehabilitation and informational center, providing services people with visual impairments and organizations, supporting them in social integration and progress, with different resources and services:

• Studying of the English language for the Russian blind and visually impaired
• training the consultants and assistants in the sphere of assistive technologies for the blind
• working with technologies of the tactile graphic, audio, video and other materials
• producing materials in different formats: audio, tactile, CD, DVD, MP3 about nature, national culture, traditions and life around the world
• learning DAISY technologies
• teaching the information science to the blind, as well as different kinds of adaptive equipment for the Blind and visually impaired people
• providing free access - computer hall with the specially-equipped places, organizing and making historic and cultural excursions on basis of specially developed materials in alternative formats and three-dimensional models
