National Association for the Blind (NAB) is the primary Non Government Service Organization for the blind in India. The NAB, through its 18 State Branches in different parts of the country, its 7 institutions and over a dozen activities, and 106 institutional members provides services such as support for integrated education, braille production, talking book library, home for aged blind, special programme for multiple disabled persons, prevention of blindness, vocational training, technology development & training, industrial employment, and orientation & mobility training all over India.
NAB became an Associate Member of the DAISY Consortium in 2002 and represents one of the very few of the developing countries in the DAISY Consortium. The organization has become one of the two resource centres in the DAISY For All Project being run by the DAISY Consortium. NAB started DAISY Book Production in November, 2002 and is building the capacity for TOC only, full text and synchronized DAISY Book Production.
