AMIS crashes whenever I try to open a book
I've downloaded some sample books from this site and other sites and all cause AMIS to crash as soon as I try to open them.
AMIS also crashed as it tried to open after the installation.
I'm running XP SP3, with ZoomText 9.18.
See attached screenshot and log file.
Thanks,
Zivan Krisher

Hi Zivan, I would suggest
Hi Zivan,
I would suggest trying AMIS with ZoomText turned off. While there is no known incompatibility, it's good to rule out anyway.
There is also a set of troubleshooting steps here:

Let me know if anything works for you or not.

Nokia PC Suite Conflict
I too am suffering AMIS crashing. I suspect the Nokia PCSuite conflict as I have a version of that software installed.
I have downloaded DSFMgr.exe and run it, as suggested at:
http://daisy-trac.cvsdude.com/amis/wiki/Limitations#NokiaPCSuiteconflict
However, I find no "Disable" option for the "Emuzed MP3 Source/Decoder Filter".
Instead I find a "Remove selected filter" button, which sounds permanent and I guess will prevent the Nokia Suite from running with all normal services available.
When using the alternative "Show Filter Properties" button I see options to set a "Do not use" Merit, and an "Unregister Filter" button. Both of these sound more likely options, but I don't know which to use.
What setting/option should I use to allow AMIS to run, while still allowing easy recovery to operate the Nokia PC Suite with no loss of facilities?
Greg
Hi Greg, I think you're right
Hi Greg,
I think you're right that "Do not use" and "unregister" are going to be less severe than "Remove selected filter", so maybe you should try those first and see what happens with AMIS. The instructions I posted for disabling Emuzed came from one of our testers who first reported the problem. He felt that the Emuzed codec wasn't really being used by Nokia PC Suite except maybe if it played mp3s (I haven't verified this though). Please let me know your findings and I can adjust the wording on our troubleshooting page.
Thanks
Marisa
Thanks Marisa turning off
Thanks Marisa turning off ZoomText sorted out the problem for me. I'd spent ages trying to fix this and didn't realise doing something so simple as that would fix the problem but I'm glad it did so thanks.
Thanks for the feedback.
Thanks for the feedback. What version of ZoomText were you using? I want to investigate why you can't run both at the same time.
Thanks
