64bit Vista Compatability

in

I seem to be having some problems with AMIS crashing when opening or closing a book. I am wondering if this is due to a compatability problem with 64bit Vista.

Re: 64bit Vista Compatability

Hello,

I don't think there is anything about AMIS that would prevent it from running on a 64-bit system. What books have you been using? Does AMIS crash with its own user guide?

Thanks
Marisa

Re: 64bit Vista Compatability

It has been a variety of books, as well as the AMIS user guide. The books I am testing are the DAISY exemplars used her in the states as part of the NIMAS efforts. All these books work properly in the commerical players, but intermitantly crash with AMIS.

Re: 64bit Vista Compatability

Hi Ron,

Do you have any assistive tools installed on the machine? AMIS is generally compatible with screen readers, but occasionally, there will be a SAPI text-to-speech conflict caused by multiple tools installing their own versions of the same third-party files.

Also, do you have Nokia PC Suite installed? It is known to cause crashes with applications that use DirectX audio. See http://daisy-trac.cvsdude.com/amis/wiki/Limitations#NokiaPCSuiteconflict for more information if you're curious.

Could you turn on full logging in AMIS, run AMIS and have it crash, and send me the log file [1]? You turn on full logging by editing your preferences file [2] in a normal text editor and where it says MEDIUM_LOGGING, replace it with FULL_LOGGING.

I will be in touch with you via email about getting some samples of crashing books.

Thanks
Marisa
