AMIS and Windows 7

Forums:
Hi Is AMIS still incompatible with Windows 7? One would think that the majority of DAISY users have upgraded to the latest Windows version by now, and that AMIS should follow suite. Is there a plan and a timeline for making AMIS compatible with Windows 7? Sadly and frustratingly this is a big issue and problem for students with reading disabillities, and a severe obstacle for their learning capabilities. Sincerely, Torbjorn Storseth Assistant Principal Norway

Hi Torbjorn, AMIS 3.1 works with Windows 7. Have you been having any problems? Marisa

Hello, I am also trying to run AMIS 3.1 Dutch on a computer with Windows 7 64-bit installed. AMIS starts and I can see the navigation pane with the contents, but I cannot go to a section or page, After some minutes AMIS crashed and stopped working at all. Rob Pauly The Netherlands

Hi Rob, Have you tried several different books, such as the built-in Help book? That's a good one to test with. Let me know if that works or not and we can go from there. Thanks Marisa

Hello Marisa, Thanks for your reaction. I have tried several books. 1. When I open the built-in help book I see on the left the navigation pane with all items. On the right I can see the contents of the items, for example "Afspelen" (play) and I see the "yellow bar" moving through the text, but I cannot hear anaything. 2. When I select the menu option: Afspelen > Harder Ctrl+Omhoog, (Play > Louder ctrl+up). I hear a voice saying "100% harder 100%" so the sound works. 3. I have tried other original books from "dedicon educatief" with the daisy logo: => ISBN-13 = 978900171820, title = Nieuw Nederlands 4e ed: 2v : Leerlingenboek. => ISBN-13 = 9789011120013, title = TrabiTour 2e ed: A v : Textbuch The result: the navigation pane is correct but the the great text pane is partially filled with items and I cannot do anything. Other information maybe relevant to you: I have a background as software engineer. I als made some screen grabs but I don't now how to post them to this forum. (maybe it 's easier to communicate by email). Greetings, Rob

Hi Rob, Thanks for the info. I would recommend that you start with the troubleshooting steps here: http://daisy.trac.cvsdude.com/amis/wiki/Troubleshooting Especially regarding running AMIS in different modes. Let's continue this over email. My address is marisa [dot] demeglio @ gmail Marisa
