MP3 convert & Victor Reader

in

After converting to MP3 Victor Readers Stream Companion software cannot find a title for the book. Transferring without a title causes the files to be placed into the root folder of Talking books. You can paste the folder directly into Talking books and that is ok but is this an Obi problem or Stream Companion?

Re: MP3 convert & Victor Reader

I am not sure how victor reader extract book title i.e. it extracts from dc:Title metadata or does it use the folder name of book.
To test if this is Obi's problem or not, I will suggest you to open the .opt file in a DAISY 3 book or ncc.html file in DAISY 2.02 book in notepad and verify if it has value for metadata named dc:Title.

MP3 Convert to Victor reader

I don't know much about .html files but I copied the line out of the .opf file in the Daisy Export folder and then pasted it into the .opf file in folder containing the mp3 version using Notepad. There is probably a better way of doing it but this worked. Thanks

Send OPF files

Hello,
It would be great if you could send both the opf files to us that you get after MP3 conversion and the one in DAISY export folder at obi.feedback@gmail.com
We will look into it and get back to you.
Thanks,

Chhavi

We have gone through files

This discussion has already been done with the concerned person. We are just putting it here for the benefit of the other users.
We have gone through files sent and found following:
The title metadata in primary DAISY 3.0 export is written as Fire side Tales. But when it is encoded to mp3, along with the title, a namespace is also inserted in this metadata which is "xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/"
So, title metadata is present in mp3 book also, but it looks that the victor reader metadata parser is not able to pick it well when namespace is inserted in it.
The workaround for this is the same as you did:
remove this namespace from dc:Title metadata in mp3 book
or remove the dc:Title metadata and copy this metadata from the primary DAISY 3.0 .opf file.

We will explore possibilities to improve it.
