Overview of Obi 1.2 plans and approximate timeline

in

Dear all,

We will like to brief about plans for Obi 1.2.

The main improvement in Obi 1.2 will be in performance that too cmostly focused on improvements in GUI.
Apart of this, we will be including DAISY book import and mp3 file import in next release with other minor enhancements and bug fixes.

But these improvements will consume some more time because our team is concentrating more on first release of Tobi (a sister project under umbrella of Urakawa project ), which is scheduled in March 2010. Till then we will be working partial time on Obi.

After this Tobi 1.0 release, releasing Obi 1.2 will be our main objective.
We are aware that this gap for Obi 1.2 is more than you would have expected, but we are hopeful that after Tobi 1.0 release, we will be able to do it rapidly with your help!

with regards
Obi team

Page numbering

I was wondering if there's a plan to correct the page numbering issue? I've been in touch a few times over the last 6 months regarding this issue... in Daisy 2.02, the page numbering results in completely irratic, skewed navigation in both Amis and Victor Readers.

Re: Page numbering in DAISY 2.02

Dear Andrew,

I think that you are talking about marking first phrase of a section as page phrase. I will not use the word "issue" for it because, it is a limitation of DAISY 2.02 specs and not an issue in Obi.

Applying a workaround for this limitation is already in our to do list. We will try to provide this work around in next release.

Hi Avneesh,

No, that is not what I was referring to. I emailed back and forth with you several times a few months ago and sent you project files to look at because when I create books in Obi, the "skip to page" function in both Amis and Victor Readers does not work properly.

It often takes me somewhere in the middle of the page, other times even to a totally different page. No rhyme or reason.

While listening back, as pages change, so does the page number highlighted in Amis, but if I try and skip... problems.

Re:

Hello Andrew,

We were not able to reproduce the exact problem at our end at that time also.

It would be appreciated if you could send us the project in which this problem can be reproduced.

You may upload project at Sendspace.com.
