Add New NCC Item

The second option for the production of a DAISY book using tape transfer is to create headings in the NCC before the audio is transferred into the project. These headings should be the same as the headings in the original print book table of contents. To do this, first go to "Add new NCC item" in the "Edit" pull down menu in the menu bar. Then, select either "Add heading" (CTRL+INS) or "Add sub-heading" (SHIFT+INS) to create a new NCC heading.

Select "Rename current NCC item" (F2) in the "Edit" pull down menu. Then repeat the same steps to create all of the required NCC headings. This is the manual method used to input the headings.

Another option is to create an XHTML file which contains the Table of Contents from the original print book, and create a new project as a "Synchronized book" with this XHTML file.

If you have produced an XHTML file which meets the DAISY standard, and which contains the Table of Contents and pages of the print book, you can create a ToC only book and then import this XHTML file into the project. The audio from the analog source can then be recorded into the NCC headings in this project.
