How to read EPUB books with VitalSource Bookshelf

Nowadays, most of the libraries are giving books to their visually impaired readers in EPUB format and for those who are unaware of this format, it becomes very difficult to read the files. This question has been asked by many friends about how to get an e-pub file on Windows computers. Therefore, step-by-step instructions are presented on this topic below:

  1. Sign up to the Vital Source by visiting this page: https://bookshelf.vitalsource.com/#/user/registration
  2. Download the Vital Source Software from below link after successful registration. http://downloads.vitalbook.com/vsti/bookshelf/7.6/PC/Bookshelf/BookshelfSetup.exe

    You can also do the registration process by installing the software and following the registration instructions from within it.

  3. Run the downloaded installer file and complete the process like any other software installation.
  4. When the software opens, it will ask for your username and password. Here, use the username and password created on your Vital source.
  5. When the software opens, you can go to the File menu and create a new folder. It will create a new "untitled" folder on the bottom left and on the screen. You can give this folder the name you want.
  6. Select the Add file to folder from the Options, keyboard shortcut is SHIFT + F10.
  7. Now you can add any EPUB file available on your computer for reading.
  8. The EPUB file you added will now appear in your collection in Bookshelf.
  9. Select your desired book and press Enter to open it.
  10. Your book will open in a new window
  11. On the left side of the screen you will see the Table of contents and the book text will appear on the right side of the window.
  12. Now you can select your desired heading/section in the TOC and start reading.
