DAISY Books on Mobile Phones and Multimedia Devices

Code Factory has developed a Mobile DAISY Player to support both DAISY 2.02 and DAISY 3 book formats. It includes support for DAISY books created with the Microsoft "Save as DAISY" free open source add-in for Microsoft Office Word. Bookshare text-only DAISY 3 books are also supported. Users can convert MP3 files to basic DAISY books. A Supported Symbian phones list is available.

Daisy2Go, mobile player/viewer for books that conform to the DAISY 2.02 specification is available for phones utilizing S60 3rd Edition. Daisy2Go is a part of the Nuance Accessibility Suite, and it has been optimized for Nuance TALKS to allow for easy switching between audio and textual content. It is free for users who own a license of TALKS&ZOOMS Premium Edition.

Daisyworm book reader is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. It requires iOS 3.1.3 or later. It supports DAISY 2.02 and DAISY 3 books but does not support Bookshare books. Instructions for downloading books into Daisyworm have been provided.

InDaisy Reader from Levelware is an e-book reader for iPhone OS. Currently, InDaisy Reader can play all unencrypted e-books that comply with DAISY 2.02 and DAISY 3 Standards. The current version of InDaisy Reader works on iPhone and iPod Touch running iOS 3.1 or above. Instructions for transferring DAISY books are available.

Voice of DAISY, another DAISY book reader for iPhone plays "Full audio with NCC" and "Full-audio, full-text" books conforming to the DAISY 2.02 Standard.

Darwin Reader for Android supports all flavors of DAISY digital talking books, including DAISY 2 and DAISY 3 text and audio formats. Books can be easily transferred from the computer to the phone. This app integrates with Bookshare.

Open Source DAISY/EPUB reader for Android, already available in different languages - is also in development.
