Narrator - title announcement

Forums:
Hello everyone, I have found that the Narrator script often generates multiple announcements of the document title and/or filename ... sometimes I get the title narrated twice, and sometimes up to three times, after converting my DTBook file to a DAISY Talking Book. I understand that the script is picking up the title information from the metadata dc:title and copying it to the frontmatter ... readers have reported that this is a bit annoying to hear the title twice. The other difficulty is that often we generate DTBook files from Word, where the filename is different from the first heading of the document, when in fact the first heading is what should be the actual "title". So then we get a triple anouncement - filename, filename, first heading, when all we want is the first heading. I wonder if there may be a way to stop this from happening, through manipulating the front matter perhaps? It is my understanding that cannot be empty or absent. Is there a way to trick the Narrator into not announcing the title? Thanks. Cheers, K.

Try adding the metadata once you finished the book Change the formatting of the first heading to 'title' Then generate dtbook file with save as DAISY. I tried this creating a doc following your description, worked fine. But maybe that's not what you wanted?!? (= have a first heading as title?) Is it a multiple docx book? If so, then use the appropriate feature in save as DAISY Olaf

Thanks Olaf, that sounds like a good solution. I will give it a try. Cheers, K.
