Bill Rosenblatt, one of the speakers at the Future Publishing and Accessibility Conference in Copenhagen (June 13-14, 2013) has posted an interesting article to his Copyright and Technology blog. The above mentioned conference brought together speakers from the accessibility and mainstream publishing fields. Digital Talking Books for the Blind or Print Impaired in India

Since 2007, BarrierBreak in India has been creating accessible materials for organizations worldwide. In 2012 alone they converted 1.5 million pages into accessible textbooks whether in digital talking book or accessible PDF format.

LinkedIn Becoming More Accessible

On Global Accessibility Awareness Day, LinkedIn staff posted an article about the recent accessibility enhancements to this fast growing professional networking platform. These accessibility improvements allow professionals with all backgrounds and abilities to be more productive. Accessibility efforts started out as a few passion projects by members of LinkedIn’s web development team. As a result, Accessibility Web Developer Task Force, dedicated to making LinkedIn user experiences inclusive and accessible, was formed.

Webinar on April 25th: Best Practices for Integrating Accessible Images

Bryan Gould and Geoff Freed of the National Center for Accessible Media (NCAM) at WGBH presented “Best Practices for Integrating Accessible Images into Ebooks & DTBs” on Thursday April 25 at 9:30 a.m. Pacific time, 12:30 p.m. Eastern. In a special 90-minute presentation for content creators, Bryan and Geoff discussed best practices for authoring accessible images and integrating them into e-books and DTBs. Included in the seminar were brief demonstrations of the following authoring tools:
