Seeing is Believing grants encourage innovators

Marrakesh Treaty: Status Update

February 23rd, 2016 update: Republic of Korea Joins Marrakesh Treaty.

The Marrakesh Treaty will enter into force three months after the deposit of the instruments of ratification or accession by twenty eligible countries. So far, as of February 23rd, 2016 - fifteen countries have done so.

Recording books with Obi

Obi enables users to create accessible and navigable audiobooks. Obi Version 3.8 was released in December 2015. We are glad to witness that Obi empowers different organizations around the world. EDRLab: A “hub” dedicated to the European digital publishing ecosystem

The European Digital Reading Lab (EDRLab) is an innovative non-profit organization based in Paris. It was formed in July 2015.

Their team is spearheading the development of open source technology to accelerate the adoption of EPUB 3 in Europe. They actively collaborate with the Readium Foundation to develop robust e-reading software. They also participate in standards' working groups that drive the evolution of the EPUB format for e-books and other types of digital publications.

Blind Foundation celebrates Marrakesh Treaty announcement

The Blind Foundation [DAISY Consortium Full Member] is excited that Kiwis can provide their input on whether New Zealand should join a treaty aimed at making more published material available for people with print disabilities.

EASI Course: Barrier-free E-learning

EASI is offering a month-long, fee-based course during November 2015 titled "Barrier-Free E-Learning." Find the syllabus and online registration information on EASI website.

The course text which is strongly recommended is Making Online Teaching Accessible, written by Norman Coombs.
